The ABC'S of Prenatal Fitness simply outlines the 12 key exercises to practice to help you feel more comfortable during pregnancy, prepare you for an easier birth and quicker postpartum recovery. Regardless of where and when you exercise, you must always first assess how you feel. Once you have completed that step, you can appropriately decide what to do whether it means participating in a yoga, spin or a strength class at your health club or doing abdominals in your office chair. Unless you are specifically taking a prenatal fitness class, or working with an experienced trainer, there will be exercises you should not be doing throughout your pregnancy. Once you understand these critical exercises you can modify your existing program and substitute contraindicated exercises with the recommended ones. And always remember to warm-up, cool down and drink plenty of water. Close Window |
