| The ABC'S of Prenatal Fitness recommends that I should engage in aerobics after strength training, why? | ||
Engaging in aerobic activity, can cause your blood to pool in your extremities (hands and feet). If you participate in strength training immediately after aerobic activity, you many not have the blood resources available for the strength exercise. This can cause an increase in blood pressure. Ideally, if you would like to do both strength training and aerobics, always warm up first ( 5-10 minutes of movement such as a faster-than-normal-paced walk) and then slowly and carefully stretch your entire body. You are then ready to begin your strength exercises. Always remember to stretch the muscles after each exercise. And, after your aerobics, also allow time for a 5-10 minute cool down and stretch.
